Like most Australian cities sport and recreation play a big part in people’s lives and Bunbury is no exception. There are several sporting clubs for men’s and women’s soccer, water polo, martial arts, softball, BMX bikes, cycling, basketball, running, hockey, swimming, tennis, dragon boat racing, archery, Rugby league, rugby union, Australian Rules Football and lots more for all ages.


You can play golf at a variety of courses in the south west at Bunbury Golf Course, Sanctuary Resort Golf Course and Capel Golf Club. There is also a South West golf Academy located in Bunbury.


There are lawn bowls clubs in the area at Bunbury Bowling and Social Club


Speedway and car racing

Speedway and car racing is popular here and there are some great events each year. There is a Quit Speedway Event in April 2013 and the 2013 Sprint Car Championship here in April too.

This is fun for all the family and a great way for the family to enjoy time together.

Horse Racing

Have a fun day out at the Bunbury Race Course with meetings held from October to April.

Other sports


Held in April is the 3 Waters Marathon run by the Bunbury Runner’s Club with ultra marathon, half marathon, full marathon and a 10km run.

Ten Pin Bowling

Bunbury has bowling alley that provides fun for all ages.

Skate Parks

There are 2 skate parks here, one at Bunbury and one at Eaton that gives the kids a fun place to skate and have fun.

Southwest Sports Centre

Located in Bunbury is this multi-million dollar centre with a range of activities from swimming with lessons for the kids and adults, waterslides, spa and rapid river. Other activities include a health club, personal trainers in the fitness centre, netball, squash, indoor sport courts and a crèche and cafe. Also provided here is a vacation care for the school kids.

Bunbury Flying School

The school offers training and a range of scenic flights over this beautiful are of WA all scenic flight seats are window seats so you won’t miss a thing.

Water sports

Try sailing and boating in the bay, fishing, diving and water skiing on Koombana Bay and out to sea on the Indian Ocean.
