Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Bunbury.com.au collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you. It is written to meet our obligations under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for personal information in order to browse this site. We collect the following:

Server logs. Our web server records standard technical information for every request: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and understanding aggregate traffic patterns.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-6JRHE9QNBM) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and roughly where in the world they are. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes this data on our behalf. IP addresses are handled by Google in accordance with its own terms; we do not use Analytics to identify individuals, and we do not run Google Ads personalisation or remarketing on this site.

Contact form. If you send us a message using our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter, so that we can reply. We use those details for that purpose only.

Accommodation searches. When you use the accommodation search, the dates and guest numbers you enter are passed to our booking partner (see below) to run the search. We do not store them, and we never see any payment details — any booking you make happens entirely on the partner's own website.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site sets analytics cookies through Google Analytics, as described above. We do not set advertising or remarketing cookies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google's browser opt-out add-on. The site works normally with analytics cookies blocked.

Affiliate and advertising disclosure

Bunbury.com.au earns commission from accommodation bookings. Our accommodation search sends you to Wotif, and the link is tracked through the Partnerize affiliate network so that we are credited if you go on to book. This costs you nothing — you pay the same price you would pay by going to Wotif directly.

This is how the site is funded. It does not change what we recommend: our guides to attractions, beaches, restaurants and events are written independently, and businesses cannot pay to be listed or to be described favourably.

We do not currently display banner advertising on this site.

Third-party links

This site links to other websites — tourism operators, restaurants, event organisers and our booking partner. Once you follow a link away from Bunbury.com.au, this policy no longer applies. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we have no control over their content or their handling of your information.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone. Information is shared only with the service providers that make the site work — our web host, Google Analytics, and our booking partner for the search parameters described above — and where we are required to do so by law.

Google Analytics processes data on servers outside Australia, which means some of the information described above is handled overseas.

How long we keep it

Server logs are retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then rotated. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in our Analytics property. Contact form messages are kept in our email for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry.

Children

This is a general-audience travel guide. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Accessing or correcting your information

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, and to complain if you believe we have mishandled it. Please get in touch and we will respond as soon as we can.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can refer your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
